Trossachs Gate Cottage Facilities
The Cottage is detached and has 2 bedrooms, 1 double and a twin bed room. Built around the early 1900s as a stable building, it has formally been a meeting hall on the upper level and a chapel on the lower level! It has been tastefully updated and modernised by the present owners over the last 30 years. It is well equipped and decorated and is in a perfect location for exploring The Trossachs and beyond.
Trossachs Gate Cottage is on the upper garden level and has oak flooring throughout, a wood burning stove in the living room and gas central heating. It is double glazed so is warm and cosy in the winter and quiet in the busy summer months. The property is pet free and smoke free but smoking and vaping can take place in the gazebo. There is everything you will need for a relaxing and comfortable holiday, or short break, in this beautiful area of Scotland.
Children are welcome and we have facilities such as cot with mattress and sheets, highchair, toilet accessories and of course a large original bath for bathing with a special insert for toddlers. The garden is enclosed and safe for children to play on the lawn or just watch the visiting bird life.
Complimentary Free Wifi is available in The Cottage but may be subject to availability outwith our control.
Inside The Cottage
As soon as you step inside you are presented with lots of original features reflecting the history of the property. Once used as the meeting hall for the masons, it was converted in the 1940s to accommodation. We are unsure as to the origin of the round window in the design?
The living room is large and spacious enough for relaxing and dining. It has a wood burning stove and leather sofa and reclining chair. A large screen TV and on demand services are available with a good selection of music and dvd's also.
The kitchen is well equipped with everything that visitors will need to cook and prepare meals for 4 persons. There is a large 6 ring gas cooker with a large main oven and a seperate grill oven. There is a double Belfast Sink, microwave, kettle, toaster and a large fridge/freezer. A full compliment of crockery, glassware and cutlery are also included.
The double bedroom has a comfortable sleigh style bed with a medium to firm mattress to ensure a good nights sleep. Egyptian cotton bedding adds to the comfort. There is a large double wardrobe and drawer unit providing space for all of your clothes. The room is double glazed and has a blackout blind fitted. We have included a suitcase stand for your luggage.
The twin bedroom has 2 comfortable twin beds again with medium to firm mattresses. There is a drawer unit for storing clothes and hanging space on the large door for dressing gowns and coats. There is also a great view of the garden and a blackout blind which is ideal in the Summer months when it is daylight very early. Like all the rooms in the house, there is a radiator in the room which can be controlled individually within the room. We have included a suitcase stand for your luggage.
The bathroom has the original cast iron bath, recently refurbished, and allows even the tallest person to fit comportably for a relaxing soak after a long day walking or cycling. There is a electric shower unit over the bath and a heated towel rail. Over the mirror light provides a power point for shavers and plenty of shelves for all of your toiletries.
Outside The Cottage
The garden has many species of plants from bamboo to monkey puzzle tree and has different areas to relax in depending if you want to avoid the sun, or the rain! The best feature of the garden is the all weather gazebo where you can enjoy outside dining no matter the weather with its oil lamps, wall and solar lighting. The garden is on an elevated level and therefore enjoys the sun most of the day and the gazebo area has sun until dusk. There is a purpose built gas barbecue with grill and hot plate available to guests adjacent to the gazebo.
There is a large off street parking area sufficient for 2 cars and a separate area beyond the field gates which can be used for secure motorcycle or bike storage. We provide secure locks and chains so that you can rest assured your bikes are safe. We have a hose available should your mountain bikes need a hose down after a day in the forest.
Checking in and out
Checking In time is from 17.00 hours until 20.00 hours unless arranged in advance due to travel. We like to be available to welcome guests and explain the facilities but we also have a keysafe in the porch which can also be used if guests are unavoidably delayed in getting to us.
In order to allow us to prepare the property for incoming guests Check Out can be no later that 11.00 hours due to the cleaning time required.
We always try to be flexible with timings as we understand that guests can be travelling form far and wide.
The tariff includes all heating and cleaning costs with no further charges applied. Logs, coal, electricity, gas, towels and bed linen are all included. We provide a welcome pack to make you feel at home especially in case your arrival time is delayed for whatever reason.
